SEVENTEEN Come In Fiery ‘HOT’ With Their 4th Album “Face The Sun” At Global Press Conference
SEVENTEEN have finally come back with their 4th full-length album called “Face the Sun” and accompanying title track ‘HOT’ on May 27th. It is their first full-length album release in 2 years and 8 months since their previous album “An Ode”. As the first full-length album released since all of the members renewed their contracts, this album holds a special place in the heart of CARAT (their fandom).
Kpopmap had the honor of covering their global press conference to commemorate this momentous occasion. Here is everything that you need to know.
The ever-dashing SEVENTEEN members showed much enthusiasm in light of their comeback, greeting the press with beaming smiles. Their smiles reflected the message behind this album, evident in the title itself.
“Face the Sun” is an ode to SEVENTEEN’s rediscovered ambition to become a sun-like presence in the industry. The title is a spur to face challenges head-on even during trying times. In the same breath, it is a metaphor for the type of artists that they want to be; irreplaceable and glowing.
SEVENTEEN shared their music video with the audience which displayed a hardcore side to the boys, unlocking a new level of their duality. With powerful choreography and an intense beated back by a Western-inspired melody, the song presents a lethal charm.
The title track ‘HOT’ on first impression is exactly that. Hot. The boys have turned up the heat with a euphonious title track that will have made it to every K-Pop fan’s playlist in no time.

The members expressed how being singers who can credit themselves with a 4th full-length album is an entirely new feeling. They have been emphasizing how this comeback acts as a new beginning for them as artists over the past couple of weeks and they are off to a great start.
“Face the Sun” is like a refresh button on SEVENTEEN’s image. The members want to show fans their passion and powerful force through a darker concept than what they usually present. Hence, in their teaser they said the line, “I’m not SEVENTEEN anymore.” This line caused quite the stir in the K-Pop world as fans wondered what it means.
The members clarified that it is a call to action for their new image. They will put aside the old SEVENTEEN and show CARAT a new side of themselves.
This album had 5 different concepts: Control, Shadow, Ray, Path, and Pioneer. Each of them showed a different charm to the members, proving that their appeal is indeed endless.
Note: A group concept photo was not released for Shadow.
These photos along with each member’s trailer in the “13 Inner Shadows” series built next-level anticipation among fans for this release. Many fans created theories on what detailed aspects of the trailers meant. The boys shared an interesting fact about how they were wearing white diamond rings at the showcase but during the trailers, you can see them wearing black diamond rings that symbolize darkness and fear.
Moreover, these videos represent the individual concerns of the 13 members but illustrate how at the end of the day SEVENTEEN is one entity.
Looking at the album’s production, you’ll note that members WooZi, Vernon, S’Coups, Hoshi, Dino, and MinGyu all took part in the production process. See the tracklist below.
When asked about the message that they were trying to deliver through “Face the Sun”, they responded by saying that the album was about overcoming shadows and becoming people who face things by making courageous decisions.
On the topic of their world tour, they shared their excitement about finally being able to meet their global fans, create memories with them, and express their emotions. They also noted that because they haven’t met in such a long time, they were excited to show them their development as artists and perform all of the songs that they missed out on seeing live during that time.
The members also shared that although they have no confirmed plans at the moment, they looked forward to later meeting their fans in Europe and South America, too. You can read more about their world tour cities and ticket details in the article below.
The SEVENTEEN members expressed their goal for this album, speaking it into the universe as they simulated a scenario where they find out that they had achieved their goal. SEVENTEEN hopes that “Face the Sun” will make it to number one on the Billboard charts.
From what we’ve heard on the album, there is no doubt that it is going all the way to the top.
SEVENTEEN also recalled a time when they were rookies and hoped for success. Looking back 7 years later, they took note of how they could never have imagined reaching this level of success. They exceeded their own expectations and hope to express gratitude to their fans by showing them they still have a lot to express.
